S/he will oversee academic programming for the libraries, including integration and administrative oversight of new academic learning centers. S/he is responsible for budgeting, facilities and space planning, and the implementation of technology and its infrastructure. Reporting to the Provost and President, the Chief Librarian serves as leader of the library faculty, collaborates with senior administrators and Deans of other College divisions, serves as liaison for the school within CUNY’s central administration, and interacts with external partners. The Chief Librarian must have the managerial and organizational skills and political acumen to navigate a complex academic setting, and build strong relationships with the academic senior leadership across the College. With demonstrated administrative skills and a hands on approach, s/he will be engaged, innovative, and most importantly, motivated by a clear commitment to students and faculty. The successful candidate will be an outstanding scholar of wide-ranging intellectual curiosity who can articulate a unified vision and provide direction for the diverse units of the libraries. The Libraries serve as intellectual commons for Hunter by providing in-house and virtual opportunities to share information, knowledge, data and perspectives on issues important to the college community.
